“I know how to meditate.” I hear this frequently from people when I talk about teaching meditation, and they are usually referring to basic meditation instructions they received. For some people, simple instructions like “follow the breath” work for them to create a quiet space in a busy life.
But for many people, those instructions don’t work well. They lead to the belief “I can’t do this” when the thoughts and emotions become stronger than mindfulness of the breath.
Fortunately, the Buddha provided detailed instructions on the practice of meditation, with many options available.
We will explore the Buddha’s teachings on how to meditate, including the Four Foundations of Mindfulness. If we really want to free ourselves from suffering, it is useful to have a number of practices to choose from at any giving time.
Let’s practice various techniques together to deepen our practices.
Suggested donation for meditation is $20 – $5. No registration is needed.
Please donate an amount which feels generous and good for you! If you are able to donate more, this allows others with less means to attend.
Everyone is welcome.
